Dr. Anna Elisabeth Rosmus (Autorin)
*1960 in Passau, Studium der Soziologie, Deutschen Literatur und Kunsterziehung (Abschluss Magister, Universität Passau). Seit 1980 Forschungen zum Thema Nationalsozialismus in Niederbayern. Sie hat als Erste Kontakt zu ehemals in Passau beheimateten Juden und deren Nachkommen in Europa, Israel, Nord- und Südamerika hergestellt und arbeitet seit 1985 mit US-Veteranen, die 1945 in Niederbayern einmarschierten. 1994 Emigration in die USA; Autorin von 15 Büchern und zahlreichen weiteren Veröffentlichungen für Magazine und Zeitungen wie Glossen, La Pensée et les Hommes, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, The European, und The New York Times. Associate Researcher am United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC (1994/1995). Langjährige Tätigkeit in der Jugend- und Erwachsenenbildung in verschiedenen Ländern, vor allem an Universitäten und Gedenkstätten für Opfer des Nationalsozialismus. Professor Robert E. Herzstein schrieb in The Journal of The Historical Society II: “Anna Rosmus’ remarkable studies of the Passau region in Bavaria stand out as the rare exception. Despite the opposition of her teachers and of the people who ran Bavaria’s educational establishment in the late 1970s, Rosmus decided to examine the history of the town of Passau during the years of the Third Reich. She has never stopped, and in the process has found the bodies and identified living culprits …” Doctor of Humane Letters (University of South Carolina, 2000; Alma College, Michigan, 2009); Geschwister Scholl Preis (München, 1984), Tucholsky Totenmaske (Berlin, 1987) Sarnat Prize der Anti-Defamation League (New York, 1994), Conscience-in-Media Award der American Society of Journa-lists and Authors (Washington, D.C.,), Galinski Preis (Berlin, 1995). Das Washington, D.C. Chapter der American Immigration Lawyers Association und der American Immigration Law Foundation ehrte Rosmus 1998 mit dem Immigrant Achievement Award als “distinguished immigrant who through her extraordinary endeavors has made a substantial contribution to the United States of America and is a proud reflection of the values of this nation.” Ihre Lebensgeschichte diente dem deutschen Regisseur Michael Verhoeven als Vorbild für seine Filme Das schreckliche Mädchen (1990) und Das Mädchen und die Stadt (ZDF, 1990). Henning Stegmüller drehte den Dokumentarfilm Gegen den Strom (ARD, 1988), und Felix Kuballa den Dokumentarfilm Passau-Washington: Das Schreckliche Mädchen in Amerika (WDR/ARD, 1995).
